A powerful part of my own journey in my recovery is learning that we keep getting back the same people in different forms until we learn the lesson.⁠

What does that mean???⁠

It means that dynamically, we will continue to attract the same people into our lives until we build more tools to work through whatever it is that they bring to us.⁠
⁠
So, a good thing to think about is: What may I need to do differently in this situation that I haven't done before?⁠

You learned a long time ago in your relationship with your emotionally immature parent (EIP) that there was no space for your emotions or needs.⁠
⁠
Even when you share, they attempt to correct you, fix you, or tell you how you're wrong in some way.⁠
⁠
You might just be seeking comfort and connection from them, but they interpret your words as opportunities to point out errors, criticize, or change your opinion.⁠
⁠
As a result, you leave dinners or family trips wondering why you even bother... It's not like they see you as a complete person or are genuinely interested in getting to know you.⁠
⁠
This dynamic is one of the many origins of what I call the ""never good enough"" wound. Your existence barely registers to them, teaching you that who you are is unimportant or incorrect.⁠
⁠
There are many reasons EIPs behave this way, namely that they project their insecurities on to you, and can’t see you without seeing their own self hatred.⁠

But remember, it's not about you or anything you did. This is about THEIR internal battles.⁠
